OUR HISTORY
A Family Business Since 1978
In 1978, Sid Holding founded S G Holding & Partners in Little Sutton, Cheshire, initially operating as a financial brokerage specialising in insurance and mortgages. Sid quickly became a respected pioneer in the financial services industry, earning a strong professional reputation.
Four years later, Sid's daughter Karen joined the firm, bringing experience from her previous role at a law firm. By 1990, Karen had qualified as an Independent Financial Adviser, playing a key role in expanding the business’s profile. In 1993 Sid's son-in-law Andy joined the firm, benefiting from Sid’s mentorship as he developed his career in financial services.
After Sid’s retirement in 2004, Karen and Andy continued to uphold the firm’s legacy until 2017, when the remaining advisers at S G Holding & Partners moved on. In January 2018, Karen and Andy launched BlackBear Financial Group, carrying forward the same principles of integrity and excellence that defined Sid’s successful career.
In 2018, Guy and Max - Karen and Andy's two sons - joined the team in support roles, cementing BlackBear as a family-run firm.
